Waterford Rose To Auction Tralee Dress For IDK
By admin | September 4, 2012
During the 2012 Rose of Tralee international festival, the IDK team learned that the Waterford Rose, 26-year-old Lorna Ferncombe, is to auction a very special dress in October 2012 to highlight child deafness in Ireland.
Update: This dress auction will now take place at a later date – potentially end-2012, owing to the Ferncombes’ busy schedules.
Lorna’s god-daughter and cousin was recently diagnosed as being partially deaf and wears two hearing-aids. Terri-ann, a funny, bubbly and creative child, helps Lorna’s sister, Suzanne Ferncombe, an award-winning dress designer, in a little studio, which Terri-ann calls ‘Suzanne’s Fashions’.
For the Tralee event, Suzanne offered to make a dress with chantilly lace and silk chiffon for Lorna to wear. The sisters are now auctioning this dress.
On September 7th, Suzanne’s degree collection will launch at Om Diva, Drury Street, Dublin 2, where the owner will kindly showcase the dress designed and made for the auction to benefit IDK’s outreach and activities. This launch coincides with Dublin Fashion Festival (September 6th to 9th).
The dress auction will take place at a date to be advised in Dublin, Ireland. Keep an eye on IDK’s iDonate pages for regular updates on this event.
