Learning Language Is Fun! For Parents & Children

Irish Deaf Kids and artist Helene Hugel are inviting families with very young deaf children to join in a series of “imaginative play” sessions. Create and the Arts Council are funding this initiative to develop creative skills with parents to support early language development in deaf children.

The initial sessions will take place at the National Cochlear Implant Unit in Dublin and at a local community venue during May and June 2009.

Creative play sessions will take place on these dates:

Phase 1 - Outpatients area, National Cochlear Implant Unit

• May 26: 9.30am to 11.30am
• June 2: 9.30am to 11.30am
• June 9: 9.30am to 11.30am

   I have a one year old boy who has recently had cochlear implants. I would be really interested in attending the “learning language is fun” course. can you let me know when you will next be running it.

   Hi Helen, it’s great to learn of your interest in the “learning language is fun!” project. We will soon finalise a date for a September session. This date will then be flagged to all the families who’ve asked IDK about the creative play sessions.
